The Three Aspects Sustainability - Hurumanu - Maths

In our lesson in Maths Sustainability, we are learning about the "Three Aspects of Sustainability" and what is "Sustainable Development", what those three aspects mean, how it impacts the world, what it will teach us so that we can maintain sustainability and help make the world to be a better place to live in, how this will affect our lives and future living of the next generations.

The Three Aspects of Sustainability

What is Environmental Sustainability?

Environmental Sustainability is making sure that our natural resources and ecosystem are protected and balanced in order to make the world a safe place to live.

What is Social Sustainability?

Social Sustainability means overlooking the aspects of sustainability, identifying the impacts of businesses and being able to manage it, figuring out the negative and positive impacts on the people and the economy.

What is Economic Sustainability?

Economic Sustainability means using our resources wisely, not taking advantage of what we are getting from nature so that our future generations can use those resources as well.

What is Sustainable Development?

Sustainable Development means ensuring that the world is going to be a safe place and a better place to live in for today and for future generations.

There are three different aspects of sustainability that are both individual concepts and also overlaps.

Definition

Meaning

Equitable

Resources are sharded and provided equally between social groups.

Bearable

The environment must be used in a way that provides for ongoing economic needs.

Viable

Society’s use of the environment must not be destructive.

This is what our teacher has put down for us to use as an idea of our own definition of those three aspects of sustainability.
