All About Blood - Hurumanu - Science

In our lesson in Science, we started to look at the human blood, the function, purpose, and benefits of it. How it is important and how it flows in our body, we looked at the segments of it. Did you know that there are 4 main components? The Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Plasma and Platelets.
These are some of the questions in the worksheet, I've just transferred it on my blogpost. There is video down below that you can watch to study more about the blood.
  1. What carries oxygen to cells from the lungs? Red Blood Cells
  2. What carries nutrients from your digestive system? Plasma
  3. What fights infection/sickness? White Blood Cells
  4. What helps blood clot in cuts? Platelets
  5. What carries carbon dioxide to the lungs? Plasma

How white blood cells help fight infection?  White Blood Cells flow through the bloodstream of your body to fight infections, bacterias, viruses and other threats that could make you ill and harm you. When the body is hurt or irritated, the white blood cells rush in to help destroy the harmful substance, and prevent infection, "platelets" stick together, acts as glue at the cut, forming a clot, covering the skin.

What colour is the blood? The blood on your body is not blue, the reason why you see the colour blue is because it's the veins you see it from. The colour blue is an optical illusion, the blue light doesn't penetrate as far into the tissue as red light.
