The Marketing Mix: Promotion - Business Studies

I have finished my assessment on Business Studies, the topic was the "Promotion" of the product which is creating an advertisement for one's product to be known by the customers.

I created my advertisement or promotion on Canva, I am relieved because I finished my work early and I think that it is quality blogposts and work. I am satisfied with my work and I think that I've put a lot of detailed information about all the segments of The Marketing mix and also about my group's product and the sections to it.

This is the promotion I've made.

P.S the websites and pages I've made are not real and they are just for educational purpose only to make it more professional.

Film Study: Coraline - English

In our lesson in English (Film Study) - on Monday, we finished watching the movie "Coraline", we watched it for two periods. Now, there were two task selections we can choose from, we either make and character's challenge chart or a resume for the two lead characters. I chose the character's challenge chart and used a google slideshow presentation because I thought it would be easier to be put the information I've gathered online and the things I remember and learnt from the movie in the slideshow.

What am I learning?

We are learning about the character's of the movies, the challenges they have faced throughout the movie and how they overcome those challenges, also what kind of personalities, attitude and character traits they have and how they are portrayed in the movie.

What do I think about the result of my learning?  and How does this show my learning?

I think this presentation, it showed that I have studied well and remembered some important information from the movie. This shows my learning on film study and how much I've grown.

I highly recommend this movie

Whole Sustainability and Maths Work - Hurumanu

 1st Task and Blog

In our lesson in Maths and Sustainability, our topic was about renewable and non-renewable resources. We learnt the meaning/definition of it. In a group, we had to discuss which goes in the renewable category and what goes to non-renewable. After discussing, we had to vote as a class where it should go, after that, our teacher will reveal the answer and explain the reason why.

There are two main types of resources, "renewable" and "non-renewable".

Renewable resources can be used indefinitely if they are usee in a sustainable way. However, if we overuse renewable resources, it will cease to exist.

Non-renewable resources cannot be remade, regrown, or regeneration, the most that can happen is they are recycled.

Resources:

  • Soil - Renewable
  • Fossil Fuels such as coal and gas - Non-renewable
  • Gold and copper - Non-renewable
  • Water - Renewable
  • Fish and Marine life - Renewable
  • Forests - Renewable
  • Solar and Wind Power - Non-renewable
  • Coffee -  Renewable
  • Wool and Cotton - Renewable

2nd Blog and Task

In our lesson in Maths Sustainability, we are learning about the "Three Aspects of Sustainability" and what is "Sustainable Development", what those three aspects mean, how it impacts the world, what it will teach us so that we can maintain sustainability and help make the world to be a better place to live in, how this will affect our lives and future living of the next generations.

The Three Aspects of Sustainability

What is Environmental Sustainability?

Environmental Sustainability is making sure that our natural resources and ecosystem are protected and balanced in order to make the world a safe place to live.

What is Social Sustainability?

Social Sustainability means overlooking the aspects of sustainability, identifying the impacts of businesses and being able to manage it, figuring out the negative and positive impacts on the people and the economy.

What is Economic Sustainability?

Economic Sustainability means using our resources wisely, not taking advantage of what we are getting from nature so that our future generations can use those resources as well.

What is Sustainable Development?

Sustainable Development means ensuring that the world is going to be a safe place and a better place to live in for today and for future generations.

There are three different aspects of sustainability that are both individual concepts and also overlaps.

Definition

Meaning

Equitable

Resources are sharded and provided equally between social groups.

Bearable

The environment must be used in a way that provides for ongoing economic needs.

Viable

Society’s use of the environment must not be destructive.

This is what our teacher has put down for us to use as an idea of our own definition of those three aspects of sustainability.

To learn more about these aspects watch this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7V8oFI4GYMY&feature=emb_logo

3rd Task and Blog

In our lesson in Maths Sustainability, we have been learning about how we can sustain the Earth, making it eco-friendly, the changes in our climate, the bad and good things that are happening. Just like what I said on my previous blogpost in maths.

Today, we were figuring out the "Environmental Sustainability Keywords" matching the words with its definition and categorising it if it's improving the environmental state, making it balanced or making the environment worse.

Red is for the movement or change that makes the environment worse.

Orange is for making the environment balanced (not better, no worse).

Green is for improving and enhancing the environmental state.

4th Task and Blog

There were four people in our group, we had to make a project about the chosen topic about sustainability, using maths and statistics and researching the aspects of it to making our graph. We have chosen the topic "Fish Waste", in that topic we explained about the causes, long and short term effects, data and conclusions, we even added in our resources (where we got the information from).

I have more knowledge of how statistics works with making the world waste-free (how we can sustain the world). I've also learnt that fish waste including food waste is also a big issue, part of the biggest issues in the world. I have improved with my maths skills and techniques. I am satisfied with my learning and how much I've grown.

Mini Applesauce Muffins - Home Economics

Last week, Wednesday, in Home Economics we made "Mini Applesauce Muffins". Unfortunately, I wasn't with the group where I am normally with because we all we're put in other groups due to lack of members in their groups so our teacher split our group up.

Ingredients:

  • Applesauce
  • Wholewheat Flour
  • Baking soda
  • Baking powder
  • Eggs
  • Butter
  • Cinnamon
  • Chocolate Chip
  • Milk
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees
  2. In a bowl, mix in the dry ingredients; the wheat flour, cinnamon, baking soda, baking powder.
  3. In another bowl, melt the butter then add in the milk, applesauce and eggs.
  4. In a large bowl, where we're gonna combine both mixtures together, add the wet mixture on the dry mixture.
  5. Fold it, after folding put mini paper cupcake holder on a tray.
  6. Put the mixture in halfway then add the chocolate chips then put more batter on it to cover the chocolate chips so when you bite into it the chocolate chips will be melted in your mouth.
  7. Bake it for 10 minutes then fan bake it for 5 minutes.

Each group have different recipes, some used soya & butter, soya & wheat flour, oil and plain flour etc. We had the wheat flour with regular milk. We had to go around different cooking stations to taste and identify the ingredients and find out which recipe we liked. I think our one is the best one not because we made it but because it had more flavour to it, most of the group's muffins are bland, some didn't even fold the mixture well that's why I tasted raw baking powder which made the muffin awful and some were undercooked.

The Soldier - Visual Arts

Yesterday, we started to look at taking photographs of small figures such as little toys. Our task was to take photos of a toy soldier that was as small as our pinkies. We went outside the learning street which was our art class is, we used the plants as our setting where we will stand or put the soldier figures to make a scene.

As you can see here we used the point of view of the soldier looking at its surroundings, this is called the "Over the Shoulder" shot.

We used a different kind of elements and objects to make the scene more appealing and astonishing. The purpose of this is to show the audience that we can use our skills and knowledge with only a little amount of materials and money free photograph. In addition to what elements and objects we used, we used the whole of the paintbrush, we used the background of a computer that was mountains and landscapes, we used the paintings of other students in Hornby High as our setting of photography, we even used a plastic bag because light reflects on the plastic, this is why the soldier with the black and white filter has a polished look.

I personally like these three because I think I applied the rule of thirds on this image, the plastic bag also made this pop out and instead of just using a black and white filter and just a soldier, using a plastic bag confound.

All About Blood - Hurumanu - Science

In our lesson in Science, we started to look at the human blood, the function, purpose, and benefits of it. How it is important and how it flows in our body, we looked at the segments of it. Did you know that there are 4 main components? The Red Blood Cells, White Blood Cells, Plasma and Platelets.
These are some of the questions in the worksheet, I've just transferred it on my blogpost. There is video down below that you can watch to study more about the blood.
  1. What carries oxygen to cells from the lungs? Red Blood Cells
  2. What carries nutrients from your digestive system? Plasma
  3. What fights infection/sickness? White Blood Cells
  4. What helps blood clot in cuts? Platelets
  5. What carries carbon dioxide to the lungs? Plasma

How white blood cells help fight infection?  White Blood Cells flow through the bloodstream of your body to fight infections, bacterias, viruses and other threats that could make you ill and harm you. When the body is hurt or irritated, the white blood cells rush in to help destroy the harmful substance, and prevent infection, "platelets" stick together, acts as glue at the cut, forming a clot, covering the skin.

What colour is the blood? The blood on your body is not blue, the reason why you see the colour blue is because it's the veins you see it from. The colour blue is an optical illusion, the blue light doesn't penetrate as far into the tissue as red light.

The Marketing Mix: Place - Business Studies

In our lesson in Business Studies, this is the third part of the assessment and I have finished it, I only need to do the fourth and last one. I first put my draft on a google doc and then transferred it on the google slideshow presentation. I've written quite a lot of information about the market day and our product, put up questions and then answered it myself. I have thought about the factors I need to consider regarding the products place.

In my slide the questions are...

  • Where will our product be produced or made
  • Where would be a good place, location, area to market and sell our product
  • Who we are relying on when it comes to selling our product
  • Who are competitions are going to be and how we are going to outsell them

I am satisfied with my learning outcome, in my opinion, I think I have improved and have more knowledge with businesses; how to manage it, what challenges will be faced in the future, competitions, benefits, profiting, etc.

The Muscles in the Body - Hurumanu - Science

What is the job of the muscle? What is its purpose?  The muscles are the ones responsible for the movement of the body, making the cells and tissues move.

What are the two muscles on the upper arm?  The muscles are biceps and triceps.

If the Gastrocnemius is contracting, what would the Tibialis Anterior be doing? It controls the movement of the ankle.

What does the Cartilage do?  It protects the two bones as they rub together.

What does the Synovial Fluid do?  It is responsible for the bones to move.

What does the Ligament do?  It is the one that attaches the bones together.

The two examples in the human body of Hinge Joint and Ball and Socket Joint.

Hinge Joint - Elbow and Knee

Ball and Socket Joint - Head and Shoulders

Bone in Our Hands - Science - Hurumanu

In Science Hurumanu, we've been learning and studying about the main bone parts of the body, such as the bones in your hand, arms, hips, legs, thigs, head, etc. We are currently studying it on Quizlet.com, doing tests, spellings, writings, matches.

Why bones in our hand is important? And why the human hand is important? The bones in our hands provide support and flexibility to the soft tissues and cell on the hands. The human hand is important because it gives us a very powerful grip to use to be able to hold things, to be able to do things, to move and grasp objects, be it a delicate object, heavy object, sharp object, small, big, etc.

How does our handwork?
It starts of with the muscles in our forearms, the thin tendons of the muscles are found on the hand directly. The extensor tendons are used for stretching the hand, it runs through the back of our hands as well, that are used from the tip of our fingers, through our palms.

What are tendons?
Tendons are the fibrous connective tissues which are attached to the muscle and bones in our body. Tendons are the cause of the movement of the bones or structures.

What are our hands made out of?
Our hands are made out of a total of 27 individuals bones, there are 8 carpal bones (bones on our wrists), 5 metacarpal bones, (the five group of bones), and 14 fingers bones.

This is what our hands look like in an x-ray

This is the creation of me and my friend, do it yourself hand demo.

To be able to make this, cut the printed hand, follow the lines, cute the straws and stick on the hand using a tape. After sticking the straws that you've cut, cut the yarn string and then put it through the holes of the straws and then stick the end of the yarn on the back of the hand with tape.

Materials used for this experiment
  •  Paper hands (printed)
  • Yarn
  • Straws
  • Tape
  • Scissors

Different Resources - Maths - Hurumanu

In our lesson in Maths and Sustainability, our topic was about renewable and non-renewable resources. We learnt the meaning/definition of it. In a group, we had to discuss which goes in the renewable category and what goes to non-renewable. After discussing, we had to vote as a class where it should go, after that, our teacher will reveal the answer and explain the reason why.

  • Forests - Renewable
  • Solar and Wind Power - Non-renewable
  • Coffee -  Renewable
  • Wool and Cotton - Renewable

Two Types of Fats - Home Economics

In our lesson in Home Economics, we learnt about the two types of fat and what benefits you get from your intake of them and the bad effects on your body. After discussing about that topic, we had to make list or a table, listing down the good and bad things it does to your body and health and the difference between the "Saturated Fat" and the "Unsaturated Fat".

Two Types of Fat

The Fats:

- Saturated Fats

- Unsaturated Fat

Difference:

Saturated fat is a type of fat that you get from eating meat, poultry and dairy. Saturated fat contains a high proportion of fatty acid molecules.

Unsaturated fat helps lower the person’s level of cholesterol, reduces inflammation, and build stronger cells in your body. Found in nuts, vegetables, seeds, oil and fish.

Good/Pros:

Saturated Fat:

  • Saturated fats will boost your metabolism and weight loss.
  • Strengthens the function of the body
  • Builds stronger bones
  • Support nervous system
  • Protects liver
  • Enhance the immune system

Unsaturated Fats:

  • Lower your risk of heart disease and stroke.
  • Helps with muscle movements.
  • Improves memory and recall
  • Rapid weight loss
  • Balance hormones
  • Prevents Alzheimer
  • Prevents type 2 diabetes

Bad/Cons

Saturated Fats:

Saturated fat contains a high proportion of fatty acid molecules that when you consume too much, there is a high risk that you can get cardiovascular disease/heart disease.

Unsaturated Fats:

Too much can negatively impact your health. It may lead to poor health.

The Marketing Mix: Price - Banana Cue Update - Business Studies

 Price for the Banana Cues

How did you work out what price you were going to sell your product at?  My group and I worked out the price in of the result of the item descriptions’ price and the quantity of it; how much a certain material we are going to need in order to make our product just the way we imagined it to be. We are sure that there are going to be competitions through the kahui, not because we have the same product because we know that no one would’ve come up the same product as ours since ours is from our country, which people are not familiar with the food. But we do have competition when it comes to the food section because most of the groups will be making food that is familiar to the customers’ eyes. Not just the food section, but we also have competition when it comes to people having a connection with customers, there are a lot of individuals who knows a lot of people and is popular, in result of this, they’re going to more likely have more customers because of their connections and how they will advertise their product and how they are going to engage and encourage them to buy their product.

How will you ensure that your product is worth the price you are asking people to pay (quality control)? Our product is affordable not only that, our customers will be pleased with our product. The customers’ satisfaction sure will increase, the product will be worth the price we are asking them to give, we can ensure this by making our product pleasing to their eyes, yes, it may be unfamiliar to the majority of them but using our knowledge with innovation and elevation and entrepreneur skills, we can make our product something that people would want to buy and eat, that they will enjoy, this I think will earn our customers loyalty. Banana cue’s are rich in Vitamin B6, Manganese, Vitamin C , Potassium, Dietary Fiber, Protein, Magnesium, Folate, Riboflavin, Niacin, Vitamin A , Iron, that’s why Filipinos love it, there are a lot of benefits you can get from eating this dessert and in an affordable price, each gets an equal amount of benefits from this exchange.

What price are others (B&E group/real-world business) charging for the same good (use a table to show this)? In the Philippines, it’s very cheap. The prices are between 10 to 20 pesos depending on the size and amount you are going to purchase. In calculation, 10 pesos in New Zealand Dollars are 31 cents and 20 pesos is 62 cents. We are going to sell banana cues on market day for $2.00, first of all, it’s not that easy to afford and find “saging na saba” because it can only be grown properly in tropical countries (frozen-free). The currency of the Philippines and New Zealand are different, you can purchase a lot in the Philippines for a cheap price, it’s more expensive in New Zealand to buy products and services compare to the Philippines. We’d have to divide the bananas by cutting it in fifths or sixths so that we are able to figure out how much we are going to serve to our customers and figure out the price we are going to be asking them.

What else will you consider when it comes to the price of your product? We will consider the quality and quantity of our product, our group and I think that the product itself is good, but not everyone thinks the same, everyone has different opinions when it comes to product. We also need to consider and find out what people in our community think of our product. Asking for advice and feedback on what else we can improve on if we need to decrease or increase the price. What we can do to make our product stand out from the rest, how it will please people, ask people if they like the idea if they agree or disagree. What we can do to make our product look appetising, if our product looks appetising then the customer will surely buy it.

The Marketing Mix - Banana Cue Components - Business Studies

In our lesson in Business Studies, we had to do an assessment of the product we are going to sell in Market Day. We have to make a total of 4 blog posts about the products, this highlights the components, unique selling-point and target market, market research, and the advertisement of our product.

This shows what the feautures of our products are; what the purpose is and how they are used. The quality of our product, the size, volume and shape, the packing (where we are going to place our product) and ingredients we are giong to have to buy and use to make our product.

I really like how my poster/presentation turned out, I think that there are a lot of information that I've put in that the audience and viwers are going to need to find out. It will give them the information that they need. The colours that I've used are dark and rich and it matches all of the elements in there. The language I've used is I think is very smart and will attract that people.

Banana Cue Advertisement - Wananga

We have started working with our business plan for Business Enterprise. I have finished making our advertisement to show our people our product on market day.

This is the advertisement I have made.

I really liked how it turned out because it's very aesthetic just the way I like it. It attracts the people's eye, and this I think, if people are able to see the product advertisement, they'd wanna purchase it.

Camera Shots, Angles, Movements - Hurumanu - English

For the past few weeks that we've been learning about filming in English. We have been looking at the different types of cinematography, and photographic techniques that are used in photographs, film, tv productions, etc.

This work shows my learning because it shows that I've understood what I've learnt in English and filming, it shows that I've looked at it deeply.

The result of my learning, I am satisfied, I now have clearly understood the concepts. The camera shots, angles, and movements and the sections there are to it.

This is very interesting because I didn't have an idea or a clue what happens behind the scenes when filming. What techniques they used to make a particulars scene more dramatic, how they capture the audience feelings and emotions, how they connect with their audience. How they can use their chances to their advantage to make an amazing film that is watched worldwide. How they are able to use their budget to purchase props or make the props themselves.

Apologies for grammar and spelling mistakes.

I used canva to make this slideshow presentation video.

I would gladly take your advice and appreciate it if you leave me feedback which I can work and improve on so that I would know my next steps, so that next time, my blogpost (DLO) is more refined.

The Composition of Art - Visual Arts

What is Focal point, Leading lines, Balance, Symmetry and Asymmetry, and Rule of Thirds?

The focal point is where the art is focused on, where the viewer's eye is naturally drawn to, the first thing they see or attracted to.

Symmetry or symmetrical is where the lines or compositions are equal and balanced, the sides of an object are the same.

Asymmetry is where the lines are not equal, the opposite of symmetry, the lines and compositions are not the same.

Rule of thirds is the process of dividing an image into thirds, using two horizontal and two vertical lines to create a grid. This is useful and it helps to position the image at the intersected points so that you can produce a more natural image.

This is the art that I made because our art teacher, Mr Collins told us to produce a quick art where there are grids for the rule of thirds. This is will help us to understand and make the art ourselves.

As you've noticed, there are scribbles on the paper, those scribbles are meant to be the massive rocks.

The elements in my drawing are the mat, book, big rocks, sand, water from the ocean. This is set on the beach.

The Three Women - Visual Arts

For the past few weeks, we’ve had Visual Arts, we have been learning about “Photomontage”. Photomontage is an art formed by glueing, cutting, enlarging, shrinking, repeating varieties of images in order to make a meaningful artwork. In this topic, the first activity we did was collaging odd images with familiar images, now we did this in real life instead of doing it digitally. I cut the images, stuck it all together to make a confined art. After doing that activity for two weeks, we now made a digital one. We brainstormed ideas for what images we could use, now these ideas are from what represents us such as our favourite things, hobbies, likes, dislikes, etc. We had to make a scrapbook but digitally, the scrapbooks have to be in “Google Drawing”. After making the scrapbook, using ideas from there on our actual collage. I’ve made a total of two.

We are learning this because we need to have a knowledge of art and in this way, we can understand how artists work, how their mind works, where they got their inspiration from. We are learning this because taking this lesson in the near future of what are careers or job is going to be. It’s also for experience and having fun.

We can show our learning through revising what we have learnt, we can screenshot it to show evidence that we’ve understood the concept of it. We can also create a screencastify explaining and showing how to make the art piece.

My learning went really well, my knowledge in art has expanded. I have understood the arts' meaning and its purpose. I now know art techniques and skills, how one matter affects another one, colours and shapes, even small objects.

This is the Photomontage created by me, I call this piece "The Three Women", the focal point are the three women.

What is the purpose of the bones in our bodies? - Science - Hurumanu

In science, we are currently learning and focus on the bones of our bodies. Learning about the labels, purpose and benefits of it. In our lesson, we had to research and find out the answer to why we need bones, why it's necessary.

Why do we have bones? What is their job in our body?

Skeletons, every human being has it, babies, teens, adults, even animals. It's our necessity Skeletons help us to balance the function of our body, it supports the body’s structure.

It protects and provides for the vital organ in our body. This is to gain strength and stability. Our bones including teeth absorb nutrients such as calcium, phosphorus and etc, to make us healthy.

This is the work that I did, I have labelled the skeletons.

What is Protein and Why Do We Need It? - Home Economics

Why is "protein" important in our diet?

Protein has many roles in our body. It helps repair our body tissues such as our muscles and build it. It is essential in our body's structure; building bones, cartilage, it improves our blood circulation and skin to be healthy.

Good sources of protein are...

  • Meat
  • Poultry
  • Fish
  • Eggs
  • Dairy
  • Grains
  • Beans
  • Vegetables
  • Nuts
Animal Protein

Plant Protein
