Yesterday was Athletics day, first thing we did was sprints, I was so happy when I got 3rd place. It didn't matter what place you got at least you finish. I got to the girls finals, all of the competitor were fast, I think I got 5th place in the last round of sprints. After that we went to eat our morning tea, a couple of minutes later, it was time to do the rest of the sports. First we did long jump, it was fun!, I still don't know what place I got, probably like 4th place? or 3rd?, I don't know.
After the long jump we had to rest to the rest area, next thing we did was shot put, and I don't know what place I got, I think I wasn't in the top 3, but that's okay.
After the shot put we rest and ready for the next one. The next one was long distance, we had to do 4 laps of the field, I think I got 7th or 8th or 9th place. Ms. Lee had to put dots on our hands so we know how many laps we did, so no one can cheat.
After that we headed to the rest area, I was so puffed after the long distance, I thought I was going to faint. When we were resting, a bad thing happened, I broke my hat, dun, dun, dun!. After that we did discus throw, I really liked it though, and I wasn't in the top 3, I don't really mind not being top 3.
It was time to do the last thing, we did high jump, before that we had to let the year 6 boys finished, one of the people who got through the finals was really good!. One of them almost injure his leg, he cried, that was painful, and then it was our turn, I kept on trying and trying until I gave up, it was too high for me. We finished Athletics day and we get to eat our lunch, the Athletics made me hungry, yummy!!!. And it was time to go home.
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Watch Out! Princess Jellyfish
Kumusta mga kapamilya at kaibigan! My name is Skyler and I’m here to share and give you information about Rare Jellyfishes living in the world, in the ocean rather. Sit back and relax and get your popcorn, be prepared to be amazed because it can even blow your mind.
Just look how beautiful they are! Yes it’s beautiful but that doesn’t mean it can’t kill and sting you. Like they said “Don’t judge a book but its cover”, be careful!.
Flower Hat Jelly
I’m going to start with a question, do you know what a “Flower Hat Jelly” is? Have you seen it before? Well here’s the picture…
My resources:
Flower Hat Jelly is a rare species that you can only find in the West Pacific off of Southern Japan. It also has a scientific name, called “Olindias Formosus”, although it looks like a Jellyfish because of it's tentacles, but this creature is a jelly. It is rare because of it’s multi coloured tentacles trailing from a translucent, that’s why it is recognizable and interesting.
The Flower Hat Jelly also has tentacles around its rim of its bell, it can grow to 15 cm. It can live around 4 to 5 months. It eats small fish for it’s diet, it uses its tentacles to catch prey easily. No need to fear because it isn’t deadly to humans, but its sting is powerful enough to leave a rash, now that is painful. Here’s what I think, I think the Flower Hat Jelly is called Flower Hat Jelly because it looks like a hat and the tentacles made it look like a plant nor a flower.
Cauliflower Jellyfish also known as Crown Jellyfish
Here’s another one, Do you know what “Cauliflower Jellyfish” is? It sounds really healthy though, here’s a picture.
The Cauliflower Jellyfish resembles a big cauliflower. It lives around the mid-Pacific Indo-Pacific, and it is also found in Atlantic ocean off of West Africa.
It also has a scientific name called “Coronatae”.
It has a magnificent colour and it's tentacles almost has a translucent colour.
It lives in the ocean, not deep though, It can grow really large, to 1.5 feet to 1.9 feet. Sounds like dinner is ready!.
Crystal Jellyfish
Here’s the third one and it is called “Crystal Jellyfish” known as “aequorea victoria”.
It is found along the North America west-coast of the Pacific Ocean.
This Jellyfish is almost entirely transparent and colourless, sometimes it is difficult to resolve.
It has a powerful mouth that extend to it's bell margin. But have no effect on humans.
It's tentacles are almost thin just like a hair.
It looks like a gypsum gem.
The deeper it swims in the ocean, the brighter the jellyfish glows, it's almost unbelievable!.
Phyllorhiza Punctata known as White-spotted Jellyfish or the floating bell
It is native to the West Pacific from Australia to Japan, it kind of looks like the Cauliflower Jellyfish though.
It is easy to recognise because of it's large, semi-transparent, rounded bell covered with white dots, the trailing tentacles also has white spots. It grows 50 cm in diametre.
It lives in oceans and coastal water.
Although it looks like a wee bit of Cauliflower Jellyfish.
It has white-spotted dots on it's dome
Lampocteis known as Bloody-comb Jellyfish and Ctenophore known as Comb Jelly
They look different because of the bloody colour. Depending on the species, adult ctenophores range from a few millimetres to 1.5 m. It looks like a human lungs to me and people said it looks like an alien or something weird.
Chrysaora Achlyos known as Black Sea Nettle
Black Jellyfish or Sarlacc Jellyfish,
is a species or a jellyfish that can be found in the water of Pacific Ocean. Though there are reports of sightings as far sas North as British Columbia. The black sea nettle can be big, with a bell diameter potentially up to 1 metre and oral arms extending to 5 or 6 metres.
Distinctive opaque, dark purple to nearly black are the colours of this jellyfish.
Marginal sense organs are spaced around the bell margin after every set of 3 tentacles, for a total of 8.
Phacellophora camtschatica known as the fried egg jellyfish (Hmmm! Breakfast! Good with bacon)
The fried egg jellyfish is a very large jellyfish, with a bell up to 2 feet in a diametre and each tentacles are up to 6 metres. This is a cool-water jellyfish that can be found in many parts of the world’s ocean.
Because of this jellyfish's sting is so weak, many sea plankton, fishes, and small crabs regularly ride on it's bell and steals food from its tentacles and oral arms.

It is a deep sea-crown jelly found around the world, it is in deep red colour. It is a deep-sea jellyfish. It typically has 20 orange-red tentacles and one abnormally large tentacle (larger than the rest). When it attacks, it will launch a series of flashes, it draws predators.
Narcomedusae
It has a dome-shaped bell with thin sides, it almost have a transparents colour. It only has four tentacles which is attached above the lobed margin. It has two stomach pouches, it is use to fill the pouches with prey, it's mostly inhabitants of the open sea and and deeps waters.
There isn’t much information about this Jellyfish but I put it in here anyway because this type of jellyfish are rare and they look interesting and pretty.
Moon Jellyfish known as “aurelia aurita”
Moon Jellyfish are relative to Crystal jellyfish although it’s not as big as the Crystal Jellyfish. This jellyfish is not rare because you can find it around the ocean. This jellyfish is translucent just like the Crystal Jellyfish, it has small-thin tentacles.
This jellyfish has a flower-shaped thingy (I actually don’t know what it’s called) under its dome. It eats plankton for it's food, it glows bright under the water, I don’t know if it glows because of the sea color but in my opinion, it glows.

Porpita Porpita known as the “blue button”
We don’t have much information about this jellyfish, I don’t know either if its rare or not.
It is found in tropical waters from California to the tropical Pacific, the Atlantic and Indian oceans. It has blue-ish (more like greenish blue) colour, probably turquoise colour. Some of it's tentacles are small and some aren’t, it has a transparent blue tentacles.
This jellyfish isn’t deadly and it doesn’t sting, but it cause skin irritation.
The hard golden brown float is round, almost flat, and about an inch wide.
It is very small, like ½ and the tentacles are under its rim.
Now you all know how cool all the rare jellyfish living in the world are, were you surprised? Were you shocked. Help Me...Please?
I haven't done reading the "Number the Stars" book but I have a little bit of information about the characters.
I've been working and focusing on my character traits, putting information about the characters, what do you think they look like.
What I want is feedback the can help and improve my learning about what the characters look like, what they did on the story, what they do for living.
The character setting is in Copenhagen, Denmark in September 1943, so Annemarie Johansen is Danish, her bestfriends Ellen is Jewish.
Adolf Hitler thinks that Jewish people are bad, I really want to ask him a question, too bad he's dead, so here's my question...What did the Jewish people do to him to make him think that Jewish people are bad? Is it because they're in different religion? Is it because they believe differently from German people?
I'm really curious about the ending but I don't want to spoil it so I have to keep reading it.
Here's is one of the characters, Her name is Annemarie Johansen, the information is written, I don't know if I want more information about her but I just need a feedback because it really helps me to improve my learning.
She is a Danish, she has two sister named Lise and Kirstin, Lise died because of a car accident when she was 18 (she would have been 20 in 1943)\
Annemarie is Blonde, she’s also ten years old like Ellen Rozen.
Annemarie and Ellen was brave and strong enough to hid from the German soldiers. It’s hard for them to hid because they’re only 10 years old.
She’s Ellen’s bestfriend.

Halloween is Over! DLO Takes Over!
Bonjour, Talofa, Konichiwa, Namaste, Kumusta, Aloha, Hello, Hola, Azyak, Annyeonghaseyo, czesc you guys today I finished creating my Maths DLO since Halloween is over. It's about 3D nets and we are focusing on drawing and understanding 3D nets.

Slice a dice
I finished my Maths DLO last week but I didn't get to post it in my blog because I wasn't here last Friday but don't worry I have here my Maths DLO.
We are now focusing about "Lines of symmetry".
what does lines of symmetry means? it's a reflection of a picture where you can fold it in half but you can only fold it in half if both halves are exactly the same.
What I did good: cutting the shapes properly.
My Maths DLO is fast but it's fine.

C'mon! join me on counting!
This week our group have been focusing on counting edges, corners, and faces, it was really easy, no kidding. After we finished doing our independent task, we had to make a DLO explaining the edges, corners, and faces of a 3D shapes or should I say 3 Dimensional.
3D means 3 Dimensional just like what I said.
Dimensional means: it has width, depth and height but in Geometry it has edges, corners, and faces.
Reflective comment/what I did good: is explaining the what 3D means and dimensional means and explaining nor counting the edges, corners, and faces of a 3D shape.
My feelings: It was really cool to make this DLO because you get to learn new things (thanks to our awesome teacher) and it's not bad to learn or try new things so learn and try it! 😉

Let's go swimming! Dive in!
After the holidays, all the students in Hornby Primary School needed to learn how to swim so that's why we started going to Canterbury Swim School, we needed a vehicle to ride and the perfect vehicle for us is a bus.
I wasn't here last Monday because I wasn't feeling well, I know, what a bummer! I missed my friends and our amazing teachers but that's okay because I'm feeling a lot better now so that's why I'm able to go to school.
Earlier we went to Canterbury Swim School, Lyan and I sat together in the bus, I was so excited it's like I'm about to explode!. While we were inside the bus Lyan and I talked about anime because Lyan and I are addicted to anime, I just realized that the bus stopped, it's swimming time!.
When we were inside the waiting area I already smelled the chlorine in the water, we removed our shoes and socks and we lined up and ready to go, we change into our swimming wear and we went looking for our swimming coaches.
When we found our swimming coaches we went to the pool and wait for our instructions, first instruction is to do freestyle next is backstroke after that is diving, we had a lot of fun learning ways how to swim, after a couple of minutes it was tome to get change to our school uniform.
While we're waiting for the others we put our socks and shoes on, we lined up on our lines and we all started to get inside the school bus and I sat again with Lyan and then we talked about anime.
My goal is to be more faster at free styling and backstroking, my another goal is to be good at diving.
My reflective comment/what I did good: I'm more confident to do swimming not like last year.

Last Tuesday we started making a blog post about our Novel Study, we have to choose what kind of blog post we are doing.
Lyan, Jolly-Rose and I chose the "Character Collection", we used clay to make all the collections.
First thing that I did was to make the laptop, next is the book, then the sniper gun, after that I made the fake I.D. and the two last one was the money and the crop.
We put it in a poster and stick it with a glue stick, we had a lot of fun making it because it's really cool to be creative and let your imagination become real.
I think what we did good was molding the clay and putting details to it and putting some information to the poster.

The Different Cloud (Partly Cloudy)

"Partly Cloudy"
The soft pink fluffy clouds looked like cotton candy, the weather was calm and pretty.
The neighborhood was calm, soft white birds were delivering happiness to everyone from the sky. All the clouds were cheerful, but there was one cloud who was different. The sky was pure white, the sound was relaxing, it was like a lullaby.
The different cloud was grey colour, he looked like smoke. His name was Gus, Gus started molding a shape of an animal and used his lightning struck powers to give it a life. The animal turned out to be a green baby crocodile with big sparkly eyes, george cuddle the crocodile and the crocodile bitten his finger. Suddenly a soft white bird with long beak named Alvino flew to George to take the delivery, the crocodile bites Alvino on his head, the bird panicked and ran in circles.
It was sun setting, the sky became more prettier, Gus stopped the crocodile from biting Alvino’s head, Alvino carried the crocodile away and delivered it. When the bird arrived, his wings were in bad condition. After Gus created the crocodile, he created another animal.
The animal he created was a bighorn sheep Alvino was shocked when he saw the sheep, when he was going to deliver it, the bighorn sheep tackled Alvino and Gus stopped the animal from tackling him. Alvino delivered the bighorn sheep away,
after that Gus created another animal, the animal he created was a porcupine, Alvino was frightened but he still delivered it when he got the porcupine, the porcupine pricked him.
Gud created the last animal and the animal turned out to be a shark, good thing it wasn’t alive yet, but Alvino can’t take it anymore, he always gets the worst of it. He left Gus alone and find another cloud, Gus can’t stand it but when he realized that the more happiness he brings the more danger ensued.
Gus felt bad for himself, he felt jealous, then he started crying loud, Alvino and the other cloud saw him crying, the white cloud gave Alvino a gift.
Alvino went to Gus to fix their friendship he opened the gift from the other cloud gave him, it was a football gear.
Gus saw Alvino and hugged him and squeeze him tightly, Alvino wants another delivery from Gus, Gus gave him an animal to deliver, it was an electric eel, the electric eel electrified Alvino and they all laugh…

Hey Diary, Zoey here…..
The environment was deadly and the temperature is hot as a stove, the land were all covered in sand it was like Egypt.
My brother and I live in a bunker, our parents died from the apocalypse, we don’t have much, we’re poor. I always go out to look for some recyclable stuff so I can sell them for money and buy some things that we need.
Some of us survived the apocalypse and some of us died and turn into a ghost.
The oxygen was deadly, we can’t remove our oxygen tank, if we remove it and inhale the oxygen we’ll die, there were no plants left, even the animals.
The town was dry, there wasn’t a lake or even a sea, I ran inside our house, catching my breath.
I showed my little brother the things I got, he was surprised, then I found inside my bad a black box with two large circles that almost looks like a wheel.
“What is it?” my brother said, “Do you want to play with us?” the tape recording said, “Show me!” brother said with curiosity, “Lend it to me! Turn it on again! Please!” he added, “No way! It’s very fragile-” I told him, “-If you break it, I won’t be able to sell it!” I told him with a grumpy voice, “Please! Turn it on again!” he begged me.
I put the tape recording up on the shelf, “anyway, it’s time for you to go to bed” I said, “Next time, I’ll go with you” he said to me, I know he’s concerned and worried about me but I don’t want him to get in danger, I’d rather die instead of him, “I’m old enough now!” he protested, “NO! I told you already!-” I talked back, “-It’s too dangerous!” .
“It’s always the same story…….I’m never allowed to do anything!” he said with a sad hatred voice, “Yes! That’s how things are!” I yelled, “Go to bed now, tomorrow we’ll have to wake up early” I added, “It’s always her who decides when I must go to bed” he said to me with a disappointed tone of voice.
Early in the morning, I put the cup down, “Get up lazy boy, time to wake up!” I grabbed the kettle and pour the chocolate milk into the cup, “Theo! Get up! Breakfast is ready!” I yelled, I opened the curtains to checked him but he isn’t there, I looked up the shelf and…. “Oh my God, it can’t be possible” I was shocked and worried, I accidentally dropped the cup, I grabbed the oxygen and ran outside.
I was at the town, I kept on searching and looking Theo, 5 minutes has passed, I still find him, I wondered if this is the end, I went to the playground and saw Theo laying on the ground, “Oh no! Theo! I cried, I felt heartbroken and blue,“It’s too early for him”……

Slime Making
We have earned our last marble on our marble jar and now our marble jar is full, it's now 100 marbles in the marble jar.
Our class were being amazing and doing the right thing and like I said we have earned our marble jar, several of us voted for slime, Slime vs Sushi vs S'mores, and slime won!.
The people on our group are Lhysette, Elisha Mae, Jolly Rose, and Jhrnylle.
What type of slime we are making:
we already found a slime recipe and it is "Fluffy Slime".
We have chosen the fluffy slime recipes because the texture is really cool and when you play with it, it's so satisfying and relaxing to watch.
About marble jar:
If we do the right thing ,our teachers will add marbles on our marble jar and if we earn our last marble we will have a fun day and vote for a fun activity to do for our fun day.
Why slimes are cool:
1. because it's so satisfying to play with.
2. relaxing to play with.
3. stress reliever well if you're stress.
Fluffy slime recipes:
- Shaving foam
- Borax (so it won't be sticky and it will give the slime a nice texture)
- Food coloring/paint
- Cornstarch
- White Elmer's Glue

“The Piano”
There was a wretched grandpa playing the grand piano, he played the piano like he was sorrow but the tone seems from his heart, he started playing an emotional and unhappy song, it was blue but he kept on smiling to cover up the pain from his heart.
Suddenly a ghost faded in, she touched the grandpa’s hands, he felt the cold and smooth touched him, it was the sweetest grandma, the grandpa’s wife.
They played the piano together like it was a duet, the grandma kissed the grandpa on his cheek, it was like a remembrance, a remembrance to remember their unforgettable, kind-hearted, thoughtful, and immortality love.
The grandpa felt the cold lips that touched his cheek, he started playing the piano more faster but then the tone changed, the tone was like a gleeful song, he remembered the war, all the soldiers were shooting, fighting for their love, life and sake.
He also remembered when his friend got shot by a vicious enemy and died slowly.
He kept playing the piano after that he remembered something cool happened when he was a kid, his father gave him a special gift when it was his birthday, the gift was a horse head toy, it was the gift he wanted since he was 5. He passed the toy to his grandson, after his grandson finished riding the toy, he joined his grandpa finish the song and they both looked at each other and smiled gladly……..
