Filipino Culture

Yesterday, the Filipino students in 7AL showed a presentation about the Philippines.  Axle and I were the host,  My speech is about greetings in Filipino, after I did my speech, we had to do the Philippine National Dance.  It was "Tinikling" though it was recently changed to "Cariñosa", Rieya was in charge of the music.  After the dance Vann and Lars explained the Filipino game. The games were Luksong Baka, Luksong Tinik, and Tumbang Preso.  It all went well because everyone had fun, what a relief!.  Here are some pictures..

Luksong Baka is a Traditional Filipino game where you jump over person that is called "Baka". (Baka means cow) Well of course you can't touch the baka, if you touch the baka, you're taking the "it" place, in other words you're going to be the baka.  If you get to level three or four, you're gonna have to use your hands to touch the baka's back and jump.  It's like high jump.

Tumbang Preso is a game where you hit a can or a bottle (called lata in the Philippines) with a jandlas or tsinelas (tsinelas means slippers or jandals in Tagalod or Philippines).  You can search it up in Google.

Unfortunally, there's no picture of us playing Luksong Tinik but that's alright.
Luksong Tinik is like Luksong Baka but instead of jumping over a person or baka you jump over a hand like this...

The Wall of Culture

So for the past few weeks we've been making our Street Art or graffiti.  This art shows my culture because it has a Philippine flag and the Philippine greeting.  I drew a heart because Filipinos are lovable people, they like to make jokes and make people laugh, well not all Filipinos though.  There is also a quote and it says "Follow your heart but take your brain with you", do you guys know why I chose that quote to put in my street art? it's because some people always follow their heart, well it is okay to follow your heart but sometimes it's a bit too much so take your brain with you.  In short, you can't always love too much, you also have a brain to think.

The update!

So we've been making our draw string bags for 3 weeks,  some of us only need to sew the bag all together. It was really fun making the bag.  By the way, I already finished designing and painting it.
My draw string bag is for my phone and the pocket is just for some extra stuff.
It was our break,  I looked for my friends to have a chat with them and also to play.

Here is the pocket...

National Anthem of New Zealand Research Team

Jaz, Kody and I have been working hard for this research, it turned to a success, I'm proud of my team.
They're really nice to work with.  We searched the history behind the national anthem of New Zealand.  "Why we have a national anthem?", "who wrote God Defend New Zealand and who set the music", "what was the New Zealand's national anthem before God Defend New Zealand" and "when was the national anthem made?".

We really worked hard on this and we are looking forward for your comment! :)

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious Video with Addyson

It was Monday, it was time for our Cybersmart!.  I partnered up with Addyson, First thing we did was to write our plan and then write the list for our tips.  After that we ready ourselves and then start doing the video, the first video was good but wasn't good enough so we has to restart and tried and tried again until we have the perfect video.  Even though we kept messing up (in a good way), we kept trying and trying.  It went great and I think we both were confident and resilient.  Don't give up.

What I learned: being confident and working well as a team.

Here's the video...

Let's Get Creative!

So for the past few weeks we've been doing tech, my class is the Soft Material.
Today we did some painting, we painted some shapes and figures.  First thing we did was to get the materials we needed, And then we started experimenting some shapes and colours.  Finally, at last, I found the shape that I liked, it was a rose and it looked pretty cool when I tried dabbing and painting on the stencils until it's completely coloured.
It is use for my phone.
After that we took our materials out, we only have one chance to paint on our fabric.  I was really nervous but I just focused on my work, trying not to get distracted by anything or anyone.
We are doing it to learn how to use fabric for sewing, painting and etc.....Here is my finished product/here's my work of art.
And another one...
