Filipino Culture

Yesterday, the Filipino students in 7AL showed a presentation about the Philippines.  Axle and I were the host,  My speech is about greetings in Filipino, after I did my speech, we had to do the Philippine National Dance.  It was "Tinikling" though it was recently changed to "Cariñosa", Rieya was in charge of the music.  After the dance Vann and Lars explained the Filipino game. The games were Luksong Baka, Luksong Tinik, and Tumbang Preso.  It all went well because everyone had fun, what a relief!.  Here are some pictures..

Luksong Baka is a Traditional Filipino game where you jump over person that is called "Baka". (Baka means cow) Well of course you can't touch the baka, if you touch the baka, you're taking the "it" place, in other words you're going to be the baka.  If you get to level three or four, you're gonna have to use your hands to touch the baka's back and jump.  It's like high jump.

Tumbang Preso is a game where you hit a can or a bottle (called lata in the Philippines) with a jandlas or tsinelas (tsinelas means slippers or jandals in Tagalod or Philippines).  You can search it up in Google.

Unfortunally, there's no picture of us playing Luksong Tinik but that's alright.
Luksong Tinik is like Luksong Baka but instead of jumping over a person or baka you jump over a hand like this...
