Imagine you are a school principal who has received a complaint from a parent who is upset because of what his/her child has learned about the Holocaust.
Write a letter to the parent that explains your school’s point of view about teaching the Holocaust. In your letter, you should provide reasons for the school’s decision to present a learning programme about human rights and anti-semitism.
Dear Mrs/Mr _______
My vision for the school is to create a collaborative learning community for everyone. This aspect will encourage students to step out of their comfort zone and improve their confidence to enhance their learning ability.
In particular, we have established subjects where we teach students about important past events. Previously mentioned Social Studies, which teach students history, graphing, mapping, geology, politics. In this subject, we are currently focusing on education about the Holocaust. The Holocaust is a controversial topic due to different perspectives and outlooks.
The main goal of our school is to achieve a high-level standard of education with the help of our staff. They can help students reach those goals by teaching them good advocacies and conversance.
It is only ethical to learn topics regarding human rights and anti-semitism because it provides information about the suffering humans endured at the hands of their species. The ability to teach younger generations about human rights enables them to become responsible, which allows them to be good members of society. to be able
Humans rights acknowledges mutual respect, diversity, inclusivity, peach and as well as, raise awareness among young people. Learning about human rights creates an understanding of their significance and how they can be protected. Together as a member of society, they can help one another tackle problems of discrimination and prejudice.
I want to make sure that families understand our school point of view, so please do not hesitate to contact me with your questions, requests and concerns.
Best Regards

Hi Skyler
ReplyDeleteThis is a really insightful letter that you have written. It outlines nicely what we want student to learn in Social Studies. I really liked how you included so many aspects of Human Rights but I especially liked that you have come to understand the importance of perspective in social studies, a key concept. On the writing side there are a couple of small errors and one way of picking up this is to read the letter aloud slowly, it always helps me.
